Sopore, Jun 26 (KNO): In a gesture of communal harmony and compassion, Sikh volunteers distributed drinking water among mourners participating in the Youm e Ashura procession at Saidpora village in Sopore on Friday. The volunteers, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) remained stationed along the procession route, offering water to participants despite the warm weather. The act was appreciated by locals, who described it as a reflection of Kashmir's long standing tradition of mutual respect and brotherhood among different communities. Residents said such humanitarian initiatives strengthen social bonds and send a message that service to humanity rises above religious and social differences. Many mourners thanked the volunteers for their assistance during the procession. The initiative drew praise from people present at the event, who said the volunteers' presence highlighted the values of compassion, coexistence and selfless service that have long been part of Kashmir's shared social fabric.
